Mountain Man - "Made the Harbor"
This one is special for me.
It was 2012ish and I was 15 working a summer job at Edible Arrangements making fruit bouquets. There was one very hipster guy that worked there that was "in charge" of the music. He mainly just played NPR tiny desk and field recordings on YouTube. He played Mountain Man's field recording performance and I was mesmerized. The harmonies was something I never heard before. I was an instant fan. Cut to 2019 my family gifted me tickets to see Mountain Man live as they were opening for Watchhouse (Mandolin Orange at the time). A beautiful outdoor venue near a river in NC on a brisk late September evening. The sun setting and the vocal harmonies echoing off the water. It was like some beautiful dream. At the end of the show both bands came together to do a cover of Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" with a live broom sweeper and everything. It was incredible.
P.S. If anyone has the poster they made exclusively from that show and want to part with it, let me know. I was a broke college student who couldn't afford this record and the poster at the time and I really wanted that poster :/
