My Heart to Joy at the Same Tone started as a 2-piece Orchid rip off under the name of David Schwimmer, recording our first four songs with a $10 computer mic and some broken equipment that wasn’t ours. Jon was added shortly before going into a real studio to record the “Heavenly Bodies” EP. We got some decent reviews and were actually pretty stoked when Absolute Punk told us we sounded like a mix between Drive Like Jehu and throwing expensive things down the stairs. We started listening to way too much American Football and decided that we needed a second guitar player, so Greg joined the band despite never actually being a guitar player. We went to Maine in the winter and recorded the “Virgin Sails” EP with this dude whose favorite album is Four Minute Mile. We self released it on 7” and received a lot of good reviews from people comparing us to Hot Water Music, which didn’t really bother us because we’d never listened to them. We did a short weekend tour of New England and then went to Florida and back with six people in a Jeep painted like the ones from Jurassic Park. We made a lot of great friends and ate one too many rice cakes. We did another Winter tour and recorded a full length that's coming out on a ska label. We still can't decide whether or not Braid is better than the Promise Ring.
