My dad bought Girlfriend on CD when it came out and I was so excited to hear it. We were big into Lucinda Williams in the early 90s (living in Texas at the time) and so I thought this would be similar given the lady in the cool coat on the cover. Turns out it was so much better. I had the chance to see Matthew Sweet @ White Eagle Hall a few years ago, shortly before his stroke. Life-changing. No artist defines my childhood quite like him and Girlfriend (and 100% Fun) remain in constant rotation.
