"Telephono" by Spoon -1996
It's funny to think that there was once a time when it wasn't immediately obvious when you heard a Spoon song. They just have a specific sound that no one else really has.
But when they came onto the scene they hadn't figured that out yet, instead you'd be surprised to learn you weren't listening to a Pixies cover band or something.
I like this album on two levels; 1. as a tribute to one of the most influential bands of the 80's and 90's; the Pixies, and 2. as a prototype of a band who eventually become influential in their own right. 8/10.
