Collecting physical media has been a passion of mine for as long as I remember. Follow along as I use my record collection to learn how to turntable DJ. I have previously had a radio show where I did hour long mixes digitally but I thrive to learn to do it with vinyl. Follow along as I teach myself how to mix vinyl.

Spoon - Girls Can Tell (2001)

Released in February 2001 before the last normal summer in America. I was 24 and living in a really cool area of Portland with some chef friends in a rad house. We had many cookouts and Spoon was played at many of them. A very fun album that goes perfect with a light summer ale.

Track B6: How A Resurection Really Feels

I remember finding this new but at least a year after it was already OOP at Everyday Music's downtown location. I used to go there so much I could tell you what was in stock I swear. I had cheap rent and a decent job and record store trips were at least weekly experiences.

It took nearly 2 years from ordering to mailbox arrival of this album after the Bandbox bankruptcy fiasco. I'm one of the few people who actually got their order. One of the biggest miracles of my vinyl collection life.

I had to randomly run into a random Reddit subreddit at the right two week window to find out how to claim my copy. (And the other 3 of their discography!)

Anyways. I love this band and miss seeing them play shows.

A quick video of my albums while wrest, a Scottish band that to my knowledge has never come close to the west coast USA. They have 3 or 4 LPs (I have 2 of em) but importing albums has become way expensive. I don't do it nearly as often as I did in the past.

I so hope I get to see them someday!

This album emotionally means more to me than anything I own. Scott wrote about the pains and struggles of a very damaged but beautiful man so eloquently.

It brings me so much comfort in the most unusual ways. It has made me a more empathetic and outwardly positive person. Thankfully I'll never have to know the pain he was challenged with but I sure am thankful I can understand others with different minds than mine better because of him.

And while I'm alive. I'll make tiny changes to earth.

I was gifted this 1996 in store signed Ben Folds Five LP after I got my friend Ben a wristband to get into a Queens Of The Stone Age "in store" in the Orange Room of Portland's Powells Books! I'm not sure if another band has ever played there. It was rad!

sElf - Sumbliminal Plastic Motives (1995)

I listened to a CD copy of this album SO MANY TIMES in the summer of 1995. I lived in Iowa and couldn't believe there was music that sounded like this. It will always have a special piece of my heart. One of the first artists the internet helped me find.
